IKON HAIR SALON APPEALS FOR OLD LAPTOPS
FOR ‘TEAM UP FOR KENYA 2013’
Cork: Tuesday 9th July 2013; Valerie Finnegan Cahill and her staff at IKON Hair Salon, 9 Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork are appealing for donations of defunct laptops, so that they may be recycled as part of the fundraising campaign for ‘Team Up for Kenya 2013’.
Volunteers with the Niall Mellon Township Trust have linked with Irish company FixIY, who provide a unique laptop recycling facility. FixIY will evaluate, repair and sell old laptops and return whatever profit is achieved from the sale less the repair cost to the Niall Mellow Township Trust.
The team behind FixIY have over 15 years experience in technology repair and support, having fixed over 20,000 devices to date. All data from donated laptops will be wiped using US Dept of Defence (DOD) Data Scrubbing method ensuring all data on hard drives will no longer be able to be accessed.
“We have tried and tested FixIY’s service and found it to be excellent” said Eimear Murphy, Volunteer Manager with the Niall Mellon Township Trust.
“We are encouraging members of the public to support their local volunteers currently fundraising for their trip to Kenya this October by donating old laptops that may be lying around offices or homes, to them to help them achieve their fundraising target”.
You can drop in your old laptops to Valerie Finnegan Cahill at IKON Hair Salon Cork, 9 Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork or contact her on 021 4274588.
